I love it when an album sounds exactly like what you would expect from the cover artwork. Growing up, the term ‘New Age’ carried a negative connotation, conjuring images of Yanni in a coliseum playing boring adult contemporary nonsense. With synthesizer music and ambient electronic all the rage again, I have been rediscovering how wonderful this style of music can be when done correctly. Seahawks incorporate a bevy of styles and sounds into their unique blend of chillwave — smooth sax lines accompany yacht-rock downtempo grooves, and extended soundscapes bridge the gaps between the more tempo-oriented sections. It all sounds wonderfully hypnotic and ethereal.
